A Basic Garden Statue Buying Guide

For many people, their outdoor garden is the one place that they can really go to get peace and quiet. It’s a place of relaxation, refuge, and can help calm you when the outside world gets to be a bit too much. If you’re serious about your garden, you’re already aware of just how important it is to choose the right plants, flowers, and other additions. One thing that people often decide to purchase is a statue – or statues. Outdoor garden ornaments, decorations, and statues can truly elevate your garden space, but you should still keep a few points in mind.

If you’re in the market for garden statues, the following things are well worth remembering to ensure you get the best possible results from your time and money.

  • For starters, remember that less is more. With hundreds of options, it’s easy to go overboard and buy far more decorations than you need. These are referred to as ‘accents’ for a reason – they shouldn’t be the focal point of your garden. Instead, just placing a few of your favorite decorations in key places will help take your outdoor space to the next level. Too much can end up looking tacky and cluttered.
  • Think about the overall theme and style of your garden. Is it rustic? Victorian? Does it lean more heavily towards Eastern, Oriental themed décor or does it scream out whimsy, with a need for gnomes? Mixing up different styles can work to some extent, but it’s better to have a clear idea as to which types of statues really fit into your design plan.

  • Size matters when it comes to garden statues, too. Be sure to pay attention to the overall size of each one and how you can use it. Larger ones are perfect for centerpieces or to really stand out, while small statues can be tucked away in surprising places or used to accent larger areas of the garden.

  • Finally, don’t forget about functioning features. Things like fountains or lanterns can transform a garden into a truly magical place, and are worth looking at when considering basic statues as well.

  1. I was looking at our garden, and it is looking pretty dull. It’s interesting that less can actually be more in a garden, Since we have nothing out there now, it would be nice to just get one or two things to help it out.
